Eligibility determinations for unemployment benefits are dependant on many factors and can only be decided after you file your claim. If you have doubts as to your eligibility, read on. We will now consider what Florida statutes Chapter 443 have to say on the matter.
The payment of benefits can be processed once the weeks are claimed and eligibility established. This can be processed on the same day if the claim is made before midday and on the next working day if the claim is made after 12.00pm. So go ahead and file the claim. You can do it on line at www.fluidnow.com at any time day or night. If you prefer to call toll free the
telephone number is 1-800-204-2418. Florida law states that the claim will be effective as of the Sunday before the actual day that you make your claim and this can not be back dated to the date when your period of unemployment started. If you wish you can mail your claim. Pick up a claim booklet anywhere in Florida at the unemployment insurance agencies. This booklet has the form you need to file for unemployment benefits. Fill in the form and mail it to the address in the booklet (or fax).
In the One Stop Career Centers you can use the computer to file your claim. Even if you are not  now living in Florida you could still file a claim using internet or telephone. There is a W-4V- form available for those who wish to have taxes deducted from their benefit checks. To obtain the form go to the site www.floridajobs.org/unemployment/ucforms or you
can get the form in the Florida Unemployment Compensation Program Booklet which is mailed to you when you file your claim by phone. If you need to cancel a claim that you have filed this should be done within 20 days. To do this you must send a letter to the Agency of Workforce Innovation.
State why you need to cancel and remember once cancelled the claim can not be reinstated. Include you social security number and you signature. The letter can also be faxed to (850) 921-3938 or (850)921-3912. To establish a personal identification number (PIN) you must do it on internet or touchtone telephone and will not be sent to you. This PIN is any 4 digit number of your choice except 4 zeros. To use internet go to www.fluidnow.com website and follow the instructions. To use touchtone telephone call 1-800-204-2418 toll free and choose Rapid Service Voice Processing (RSVP) and follow the instructions. If you have no success in either of these methods call the Claims Assistance Center toll free at the same number as the one mentioned for the touchtone telephone above. The state of Florida will do everything they can to help you in your period of unemployment.
